About this wine

A traditional but modern classic, Coriole Lloyd Reserve is a robust but beautifully balanced style. The wines have intense ripe blackberry, black olive aromas and meaty complexity with plenty of palate richness, underlying new oak, fruit sweetness and texture. Coriole Lloyd Reserve Shiraz is sourced from a small single vineyard block, which includes Geoffrey Kay’s original 1919 plantings. The dry-grown east-facing organically-farmed vineyard, lies on deep clay soils, in the Seaview sub-region. Vinification takes place in concrete and steel open-fermenters and fermentation is completed in barrel. The wine is then matured for up to 22 months in 40% new and seasoned French oak barrels.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Coriole
Located among the undulating hills of McLaren Vale, Coriole is a family owned winery with a long history of viticulture dating back to 1919. The vineyard soils are predominantly terra rosa producing deeply coloured well-structured red wines with excellent capacity for ageing. Coriole has 25 different vineyards with plantings primarily of Shiraz alongside smaller holdings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache and Merlot. A pioneer of Italian varieties in Australia, the estate has significant mature vineyard holdings of Sangiovese complemented by plantings of Barbera, Montepulciano, and Fiano. Recent moves into organic viticulture look set to expand in the coming years.
