About this wine
Seppelt Drumborg Pinot Noir, Henty
The Seppelt Drumborg range wines are made from fruit sourced exclusively the Drumborg vineyard in the Henty region of Victoria. Planted in 1964 by Karl Seppelt, the cool-climate Drumborg vineyard is one of the southern-most vineyards in mainland Australia.
The Drumborg Vineyard Pinot Noir from Seppelt is made from parcels of Pinot Noir selected for their intensity of flavour and structure. Traditional winemaking techniques are used, followed by maturation in a combination of French oak barriques and puncheons.

Expert Review
Ned Goodwin MW
Crushed red berries, a whiff of white pepper, Chinotto and marjoram. A thrust of sappiness and parry of whole-bunch tannins, all doused with mezcal and cardamon, serve as gentle structural latticework. A lighter weight Pinot, with a crescendo of sweeter fruit and bergamot as it opens with air. A little soft, but pleasurable enough.
92 points, Ned Goodwin MW.

A masterclass in not judging pinot noir by the depth of its colour, here only a little deeper than its pinot meunier sibling. And there's more in the mouth, initially hesitant then majestically expanding on the finish and aftertaste, peacock's tail opening. The rainbow of berry aromas surging from the glass.
