The Whisky Release of a Lifetime

In Oak Since the ‘60s. Auction Opens October 29.

This is the oldest single malt from Japan’s undisputed leaders in Whisky: the legendary House of Suntory.  It’s the first release of its kind, ever. Suntory’s third Master Blender, Shingo Torii, created “Yamazaki 55” by blending ultra rare distillations laid down to mature in 1960 and 1964.

He made just 100 single bottles. We’ve got one.

Bidding opens on Friday October 29, and registration to bid on the Yamazaki 55 closes at 2PM on Monday November 15. All 31 Whiskies from the Dan Murphy’s x Langton’s House of Suntory Auction will go to the highest bidders when the final hammer falls at 9PM Monday November 15.

Also Available at Auction

25 Year Old Yamazaki

RRP $9,800, Only 2 available

First made in 1984, to celebrate 60 years of whisky at the Yamazaki distillery, this isn’t just Suntory’s flagship single malt, it’s the most-awarded Japanese single malt on earth. Expect Suntory’s trademark complexity and depth from the birthplace of Japanese whisky, meticulously aged in a combination of American, Spanish, and the legendary Japanese Mizunara Oak.

21 Year Old Hibiki

RRP $999, Only 5 available

This iconic 21 year-old is second in the Suntory portfolio only to the extremely rare and recently-released 30 year of the same lineage. As its maker says: Full of grace. Tenderly unfolding a calm essence. Hibiki is the House of Suntory’s most storied, and the world’s most awarded, blended Japanese Whisky. First made in 1989 to commemorate the 90th anniversary of Suntory, the name Hibiki means “resonance” – fitting both for the nature of blending, and Suntory’s philosophy to “live in harmony with people and nature.”

30 Year Old Hibiki

RRP $9,800, Only 1 available

This 30-year release is relatively new to the portfolio, and now the premier blended whisky bottling from Suntory. As the maker describes it: Noble. Full of wisdom. Complete and resonating.

25 Year Old Hakushu

RRP $9,800, Only 2 available

The Hakushu distillery was built fifty years after the original Yamazaki distillery, high in forests of Mt. Kaikomagatake in the Japanese Southern Alps. This 25-year bottling is the most mature and revered of this Suntory single malt. Often termed “surprisingly crisp”, (a nod perhaps, to its roots, in one of the highest-altitude distilleries on earth) it’s deep yet fresh, with smoky notes.

Hibiki Limited Edition 2021 Harmony

RRP $200, Only 20 available

From the maker: Luminous. Delicate. A transparency that unveils complexity. This 2021 release is the latest in a long and distinguished line that collectors can trace all the way up to the Hibiki 30 year. It’s flavours are subtle and long-finishing, with hints of the famous Mizunara (Japanese oak).

Please note: a Buyer’s Premium of 16.5% inc. GST is applied to the winning hammer amount for all lots at Langton’s auction. This auction is in partnership with Dan Murphy’s.
