Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier

Clonakilla Shiraz Viognier

Clonakilla's inventive Shiraz Viognier reshapes Australian Shiraz, stemming from a mature vineyard and unwavering winemaking beliefs. Planted by Dr. John Kirk in 1971 near Canberra, the blend emerged in 1992 when Tim Kirk, Kirk’s son, co-fermented viognier with shiraz, incorporating pinot noir and mataro. Today, sourced from prime Murrumbateman Vineyard parcels, this wine thrives at 600 metres elevation, resting on granitic soils. The result? A wine brimming with aromatic complexity, natural balance, and finesse. These soils—sandy loams over clay—yield an elegant, spiced complexity, firmly establishing this revolutionary blend among Australia's wine elites.
