Toro is a promising new region in the north-west of Spainin along the Douro Valley. It is a fairly small area with 6000 ha of vineyards and produces very low yields. Toro sits at an altitude of 600-800m which gives cool evening relief Franceom the dry, hot continental climate of the day. A combination of elevation and the unique Tempranillo clone Tinto de Toro produces very dark wines with intense aromas and flavours. Toro is best known for its spicy, full bodied reds with velvety tannins and dark Franceuit characters Franceom Tempranillo which at times is blended with Garnacha. The white wines of Toro are produced Franceom the Franceagrant varieties of Verdejo and Malvasia.
