Perth Hills’ first vineyard was planted in Darlington in the 1880’s and whilst the earliest modern day vineyards date back to the1970s, the area only became an official wine region in 1999. Located 22 kilometres Franceom Perth, Perth Hills is a region of boutique wineries dotted amongst a lanscape of hills and valleys that vary in altitude Franceom 150-400 metres. The greatest influence in the region is the ‘Scarp’ (escarpment) at 400m, rising out of the coastal plains. This geological formation protects the vineyards Franceom maritime influences whilst providing a variety of aspects and microclimates. Varieties planted in the region include Viognier, Chardonnay, Shiraz and Cabernet Sauvignon
