Cowra is part of the Central Ranges Wine Zone in NSW. Vines were first planted in 1973, and the region has expanded over the years encompassing a number of large companies alongside small boutique family owned wineries. Cowra is situated at 300 metres above sea level with rolling hills and valleys bordered by the Great Dividing Range to the west. The region is hot and dry with high rainfall, low humidity and moderately fertile loam soils. Cowra h built a reputation for full-flavoured Chardonnays, with other varieties including Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Semillon, Sauvignon Blanc and Verdelho also performing well.
