Domaine Leflaive's Chevalier-Montrachet holds a unique position, more for its longevity and unwavering consistency across vintages. Chevalier-Montrachet sits above Le Montrachet in a cool climate on thin limestone soils; it is the highest of the five Grand Cru vineyards in Montrachet.​ The domaine farms nearly two hectares across three upper terraces in Puligny-Montrachet. Shallow, rocky soils force vine roots deep into the limestone, keeping yields small and natural acidity bright. Biodynamic farming since the late 1990s ensures the fruit reflects its site with minimal intervention.
