Dry River Pinot Noir, Martinborough/Waiparapa
Neil McCallum's Dry River was, for decades, New Zealand's most compelling fine wine address — a perfectionist estate producing pinot noir of extraordinary concentration and longevity from the Martinborough Terrace's free-draining alluvial soils. The wines age superbly, often outlasting expectations by decades. The estate has maintained its singular philosophy under subsequent ownership. Among New Zealand pinot noirs, Dry River remains one of the two or three most important names — and a wine of genuine international standing.
