Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz

Henschke Mount Edelstone Shiraz

Mount Edelstone Shiraz holds an enigmatic origin amidst South Australia's vineyards. Its roots trace back to Ronald Angas' 1912 plantings, likely sourced from William Gilbert at Pewsey Vale Station. Quarantine laws of 1899 mandated using existing state materials. Grown on original pre-phylloxera vines over sandy loam and gravelly clay, this 16-hectare vineyard employs biodynamic methods. Cyril Henschke crafted the first Claret in 1952, and the family acquired the vineyard in 1974, enhancing soil and vine health. With over 60 vintages, this Shiraz embodies Eden Valley's floral essence and exceptional terroir. Its vinification involves submerged cap fermentation and 18 months' oak maturation in a blend of new and seasoned French and American hogsheads.
