Paringa Estate - Estate Pinot Noir
Paringa Estate is among the pioneers of cool climate viticulture on the Mornington Peninsula. While maker Lindsay McCall was not the first vigneron, he was among an early handful, unsure of what varieties were best suited to the challenging maritime climate. Pinot noir, of course, became the beacon of light that shone on an illustrious future. In 2017, Lindsay’s son, Jamie McCall, seized the reins. A warming climate and ensuing higher alcohols have been toned by precise viticulture, achieving optimal ripeness at lower baumé. The wines have never been better! Think lustrous blue fruits, a smattering of whole bunch spice here and there and sinuous, savoury tannins that corral the fruit while compressing the whole into a bone of welcome tension.
