Arnaud Mortet created this label alongside his family’s famed Domaine Denis Mortet to farm additional historic Gevrey-Chambertin vineyards. Sourced from stony parcels in Premier Cru La Perrière directly below Mazis-Chambertin, sixty-year-old vines sit on ancient limestone bedrock that retains moisture even through dry seasons.
In the cellar, Mortet uses gentle extraction, around 30% whole-cluster fermentation, and modest maturation in French oak barrels. This measured approach preserves natural acidity, framing the raw tension and mineral drive of the terroir without heavy oak intervention.
The nose delivers bright red raspberry, plum, orange peel, and underlying crushed-stone minerality. The palate offers focused dark berry fruit and white pepper supported by svelte, fine-grained tannins and a sappy, persistent finish. It provides exceptional precision and enduring Gevrey-Chambertin pedigree.
