About this wine

The gorgeous, complex and finely-textured Bannockburn Serré Pinot Noir derives from the cool climate and maritime-influenced 1.2 hectare Serré vineyard first planted in 1985. The narrow rows, low trellising and close-planted vines "restricts crop levels to mirror those of Grand Cru Burgundy". Serré is vinified using traditional Burgundian winemaking practices including 100% whole bunch vinification in recent times. Maturation takes place for around 18 to 24 months in one third new and seasoned French oak. Highly defined, black cherry, violet aromas with a meaty, sappy complexity, silky-textured palate and superb vinosity are hallmarks of the style.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Bannockburn Vineyards
The late Stuart Hooper established Bannockburn in 1974. Located just northwest of Geelong, the winery is one of Australia's leading Pinot Noir and Chardonnay producers. Bannockburn’s Pinot Noir clone was brought out as part of the James Busby collection, originally planted in the Botanical Gardens in Sydney and sourced from Clos Vougeot. Indeed, the vines look remarkably similar to their Burgundian antecedents. All of Bannockburn’s wines are made from estate-grown fruit. The dry-grown vineyard area spans 27 ha across 3 separate sites. Organic viticulture is practiced and together with a philosophy of low intervention winemaking, ensures each wine in the range expresses a distinct sense of regional identity and place.
