BARON DE PHILIPPE ROTHSCHILD - CONCHA Y TORO Almaviva EPU Cabernet Carmenere, Puente Alto 2024 Bottle
About this wine
Baron Philippe de Rothschild - Concha y Toro Almaviva EPU Cabernet Carmenère, Puente Alto
Epu serves as the second wine to Almaviva, created through the joint venture between Baron Philippe de Rothschild and Concha y Toro. Sourced entirely from the Puente Alto vineyard in Chile's Maipo Valley, it shares the same terroir and high-density planting as the flagship bottling. Winemaker Michel Rolland guides the assemblage, focusing on Cabernet Sauvignon supplemented by Carmenère and Cabernet Franc.
Maturation takes place over 12 months in French oak barrels, with roughly one-third new wood. This regime preserves fruit purity while adding structure and longevity, drawing on Bordeaux practices adapted to South American soils.
The nose consistently reveals cassis, black cherry, dried herbs, and subtle cedar notes. On the palate, expect medium to full body, precise tannins, and balanced acidity, delivering flavours of dark berries, tobacco leaf, and refined graphite through a clean, persistent finish.
