BENJAMIN LEROUX, Bourgogne Blanc 2023 Bottle
About this wine
Benjamin Leroux, Bourgogne Blanc
Benjamin Leroux established his own label in 2007 after years as the régisseur at Domaine du Comte Armand. He is widely considered one of the most gifted winemakers of his generation. His Bourgogne Blanc is not a simple entry-level wine. He sources fruit from high-quality vineyards in Meursault and Chassagne-Montrachet to ensure the wine punches well above its classification.
The winemaking approach prioritises purity and terroir expression. Leroux uses older French oak barrels to let the fruit lead rather than mask it with wood. He employs spontaneous fermentation and minimal intervention to preserve the Chardonnay's natural energy. This results in a wine with structural precision and a clean, mineral core that reflects the region's limestone soils.
Each vintage delivers consistent aromas of white flowers, lemon curd, and fresh hazelnuts. The palate provides a balance of stone fruit and citrus, supported by a distinct saline quality and vibrant acidity. It is a sophisticated white Burgundy that offers immediate pleasure and clear regional character without unnecessary artifice.
