BENJAMIN LEROUX, Meursault 2023 Bottle
About this wine
Benjamin Leroux, Meursault
Benjamin Leroux established his own négociant house in 2007 after a decade managing the iconic Domaine Comte Armand. His Meursault is a masterclass in sourcing, blending fruit from various high-altitude parcels to capture the full spectrum of the village. He treats every lot with individual care, using small oak barrels with a low percentage of new wood to ensure the fruit remains the protagonist.
The winemaking focus remains on transparency and tension. Leroux employs gentle pressing and indigenous yeast fermentations, avoiding excessive batonnage to prevent the wine from becoming heavy. The result is a sophisticated expression of Chardonnay that prioritises structural integrity and terroir expression over simple ripeness.
Expect a nose of citrus zest, white peach, and a distinct flinty reduction. On the palate, the wine delivers a concentrated core of stone fruit and roasted almonds, underpinned by a vibrant mineral streak. It is a dry, textured white that finishes with a refreshing saline snap, making it a reliable choice for serious Burgundy collectors.
