Benjamin Leroux 1er Cru Les Cazetiers, Gevrey-Chambertin 2022 is a standout red Burgundy from one of Gevrey-Chambertin’s most esteemed Premier Cru vineyards. Leroux’s plot features 40-year-old Pinot Fin vines, farmed biodynamically on the vineyard’s mid-slope, renowned for its stony, well-drained soils and elevated position flanked by Clos Saint-Jacques and Combe aux Moines. The 2022 vintage was crafted using two-thirds whole bunches, initially aged in new oak before being transferred to older barrels, resulting in a wine of remarkable perfume, balance, and lacy delicacy despite its underlying intensity.
