About this wine
Bibi Graetz Colore, Toscana IGT
Bibi Graetz is a Tuscan native raised as an artist. Since the 90s, he has poured his art into character-filled wines out of the storybook village of Fiesole perched in scenic decadence five kilometres from Florence. Considered a cult label, the wines of Bibi Graetz are abundant in authentic Tuscan soul. The Colore is the label’s flagship wine, the highest expression created by Bibi Graetz.
100% Sangiovese from vines over 70 years of age, sand, stone, and high altitudes make for the ideal confluence of factors to produce this authentic expression of Tuscan terroir. Only the very best barrels of Sangiovese produced by Bibi Graetz year on year become the Colore.
A profound and luscious red hue, red cherry and rose petal aromas meet earth, herbs and crushed rocks. A savoury palate meets with vibrant acidity to assure a wine that will do well in the cellar.

This is the best ever with incredible depth and focus. The polished tannins display energy and balance. Everything is together. Blackberry, black cherry, mushroom and wet earth. Goes on for minutes. So approachable, but one for the cellar. Mostly from Lamole. Superb.

What intense aromas of cherries and raspberries! Then it turns to flowers and orange peel. Roses, too. This is really full and powerful with layers of ripe tannins. It’s super fine-tannined, but shows wonderful length and intensity. A great expression of Lamole in Chianti Classico with ancient vines. Some older than 100 years. Best ever? Superb. Try after 2024 and onwards.

As with Testamatta, there is a deliciously savoury edge to the spiced raspberry and plum fruits. A beautiful wine combining high acidity and sculpting freshness with concentrated liquorice and feathered tannic hold. A juicy, subtly-layered finish has grip and persistency. Both Bibi Graetz wines stop you in your tracks. Grapes selected from three different vineyards, each one harvested up to eight times to ensure picking only at full ripeness, with vines at least 70 years old.
