About this wine

The Quartz Chardonnay is a taut linear Chardonnay with crystalline laser-like acidity. The vines were planted in 1988 on a half-hectare area and are located on the most elevated position on the vineyard where the quartz content in the soil is the highest. This produces fruit with extra complexity, finesse and intensity. The wine is fermented in French barrels of which typically 35% are new.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Bindi
The Bindi vineyard is small and located on elevated grazing land on the slopes of Mount Gisborne in the Macedon Ranges. Family owned and operated, winemaker Michael Dhillon helped his father Bill to plant the original vineyard in 1988. The 6 ha of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir vineyards, elevated at approximately 500 metres, are located on gentle north facing slopes. Balance and purity in the wines is a central tenet of Bindi’s philosophy, realised through low- input viticulture and hands-off winemaking. The wines of Bindi are dedicated to the late mathematician and Professor Kostas Rind (1909-1983) whom Bill Dhillon describes as a “Lithuanian sage who epitomised wisdom and humility and introduced me to wine.”
