About this wine
Borgogno Barolo Cannubi Riserva
Cannubi is the most celebrated vineyard in the Barolo region. Located in the heart of the village, its unique soil composition, blending sand and limestone, produces Nebbiolo of exceptional depth. Borgogno, established in 1761, maintains a significant holding in this historic cru. The Riserva designation is reserved for the finest fruit from these vines, released only after extended ageing in the estate cellars.
The winemaking follows traditional methods to respect the site. The fruit undergoes a long maceration in large Slavonian oak casks, known as botti, for several years. This slow maturation allows the tannins to integrate while preserving the vineyard's site-specific character.
The nose shows dried rose petals, leather, and red cherry. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied with firm, chalky tannins. Liquorice and forest floor notes carry through to a long, savoury finish. This is a wine built for the long term.
