CATHIARD, Napa Valley 2020 Bottle
About this wine
Cathiard, Napa Valley
Cathiard Estate represents the intersection of Bordeaux heritage and Napa Valley terroir. Following their success at Château Smith Haut Lafitte, the Cathiard family acquired this historic property in the heart of St. Helena. The vineyard occupies a unique position on the foothills of the Mayacamas Mountains, where well-drained volcanic soils and a specific microclimate produce fruit with notable intensity.
The winemaking team employs a precise approach to reflect the estate’s identity. The grapes undergo rigorous sorting before fermentation in truncated wooden vats. Maturation takes place in French oak barrels, with a majority being new oak sourced from the family’s own cooperage in France. This ensures a seamless integration of wood and fruit.
The nose offers aromas of blackcurrant, crushed gravel, and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and structured, showing flavours of dark cherry and cocoa. Firm tannins provide a solid foundation for long-term cellaring. This is a significant addition to any collection of premium Cabernet Sauvignon.
