CERETTO, Barolo DOCG 2017 Bottle
About this wine
Ceretto Barolo DOCG
Ceretto produces this Barolo as a classic assemblage, sourcing Nebbiolo from four distinct estate vineyards across the Langhe. The fruit comes from parcels in La Morra, Barolo, Castiglione Falletto and Serralunga d'Alba. By blending these diverse sites, the Ceretto family aims to create a balanced representation of the region. The varied soil types, ranging from sand to heavy clay and limestone, provide the wine with a comprehensive structural profile and consistent quality.
The winemaking follows a technical protocol to ensure purity. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks using natural yeasts. The wine matures for 24 months in a combination of large Slavonian oak casks and smaller French oak barrels. This method allows the wine to develop complexity and soften its tannins without the fruit being overshadowed by new wood flavours. The wine undergoes a further period of bottle age before release.
The nose offers scents of red cherry, rose petal and spice. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied and structured, featuring flavours of raspberry, forest floor and leather. It possesses firm tannins and a clean finish. This Barolo serves as a versatile entry point for Australian collectors, offering the prestige of the Ceretto name and the authentic character of Piedmont. It remains a reliable staple for any cellar.
