About this wine

Château Angélus Blanc du Milieu, Atlantique IGP

Château Angélus Blanc du Milieu is a rare and personal project from the de Boüard family, better known for their Saint-Émilion Premier Grand Cru Classé. Produced outside the appellation under the Atlantique IGP, this wine reflects a freedom to experiment with white varieties not permitted under Bordeaux's traditional rules.

The blend typically combines Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon, sourced from cooler limestone- and clay-rich parcels near Saint-Émilion. Fermentation takes place in a mix of barrels and temperature-controlled tanks, followed by maturation on fine lees to build texture and complexity. The result is a white of clarity and poise, showing aromas of citrus, white peach and subtle floral notes. The palate is fresh and finely structured, with mineral drive and gentle weight from lees ageing. Blanc du Milieu is proof that even icons of Bordeaux can surprise, combining heritage with an open-minded approach to craft.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Chateau Angelus
Chateau Angélus is one of the most renowned estates of St-Emilion. Currently designated Premier grand cru classé (A) in the most recent 2012 Classification of Saint-Émilion, the estate is owned and managed by eighth generation Hubert de Boüard de Laforest and his cousin Jean-Bernard Grenie. Located in the centre-west of the St-Emilion appellation, the estate’s vineyards are planted on a warm south-facing slope. The Grand Vin is a dense, unctuous blend of Merlot and Cabernet Franc, that can appear slightly austere when young, developing greater generousity and richness with age. A second wine called Carillon d’Angélus is also made
