Château d'Yquem Y d'Yquem Bordeaux Blanc

Château d'Yquem stands as the sole Premier Cru Supérieur in Sauternes, renowned globally for its world-class sweet wines. Yet, the estate also produces an exceptional dry white, Y (pronounced "Ygrec"). Born from the same clay-gravel terroir as its legendary sweet counterpart, Y is a deliberate, rare expression crafted in strictly limited quantities.

The winemaking relies on a blend dominated by Sauvignon Blanc for freshness, balanced by rich Sémillon. Picked early in the harvest before noble rot takes hold, the grapes undergo gentle pressing and ferment in temperature-controlled vats. The wine matures in French oak barrels, a mix of new wood and barrels previously used for the main grand vin, building texture without overpowering the fruit.

The nose opens with crisp white peach, grapefruit zest, and subtle hints of flint and white flowers. On the palate, expect a precise line of natural acidity framing flavours of lemon curd, green apple, and a textured, mineral-driven finish. It offers structure, depth, and immediate cellar appeal.
