CHATEAU LAFAURIE-PEYRAGUEY 1er cru classe, Sauternes 2025 Bottle
About this wine
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey 1er cru classe, Sauternes
Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey sits on the high gravel ridge of Bommes, directly opposite d’Yquem. This Premier Cru Classé estate benefits from a unique microclimate where the Ciron and Garonne rivers meet, consistently generating the autumn mists necessary for botrytis. Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillon vines, averaging 40 years of age, anchor a production dedicated entirely to the expression of place.
Winemaker Éric Laruelle oversees a meticulous, multi-pass harvest, selecting only perfectly affected berries. The wine ferments and matures in French oak barrels, roughly one-third new, for 18 to 20 months. This disciplined approach integrates rich sugars with structural oak, ensuring balance and longevity in every release.
The glass reveals aromas of dried apricot, orange blossom, and clear honey. On the palate, concentrated flavours of candied citrus, ginger, and saffron unfold alongside a driving line of acidity. It delivers a clean, precise finish that balances immense sweetness with remarkable freshness, making it a benchmark Sauternes.
