About this wine

Cloudy Bay Pinot Noir is a classic New Zealand expression of the varietal. With dried rose and sweet spice on the nose, this has silky structure with a palate of rich red fruit. Concentrated and aromatic.

Established in 1985, Cloudy Bay is a pioneer of Marlborough, as one of the first five wineries in the region. Founded by David Hohnen (also the founder of Margaret River’s Cape Mentelle Vineyards), it is located in the verdant Wairau Valley. It is a New Zealand wine icon worldwide.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Cloudy Bay
David Hohnen, the founder of Cape Mentelle in Margaret River, Western Australia, established Cloudy Bay in Marlborough New Zealand in 1985. The first commercial vintage made that same year was produced from purchased grapes. The company later planted its own vineyards, which now total 140 ha over three different sites in the Wairau Valley. Most of the vineyards are anchored on free draining alluvial gravel soils. Considered a pioneer of the Marlborough region, the winery played a pivotal role in showcasing the potential for premium Sauvignon Blanc in Marlborough. Best known for its premium Sauvignon Blanc, Cloudy Bay also produces sparkling wines under the Pelorous brand, in addition to Pinot Gris, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir among others.
