About this wine
Comando G La Bruja de Rozas
The La Bruja de Rozas is a Villages style wine. The name translates to ‘the witch of Rozas.’ Superstitions and rumours abound in the area where near ever-present and eerie cloud cover that sits. The fruit is sourced from several vineyards around near the village of Rozas. And there is more than a hint of Villages Burgundy about the La Bruja. Expect dried cherries and herb notes on the nose and pinpoint signature Gredos/Comando G acidity. A great introduction to Comando G and Sierra de Gredos Garnacha.
"Most of the Comando wines we sell go into cellars of winemakers in Barossa."

I tasted a very young and recently bottled 2018 La Bruja de Rozas, their village Garnacha from the village of Las Rozas de Puerto Real. It's from a vintage that feels very complete and balanced and delivered very healthy grapes, good yields and grapes with ripe flavors and very good freshness. The wine is juicy but also sharp and mineral, backward and nuanced; it's shy now, but it has great depth and is finely knitted, textured, mineral and salty. I think this will surpass the already-amazing 2016. It fermented and matured in oak vats of different sizes, yet there is such purity of fruit and the wine is so intense that the oak is completely transparent. I had the chance to drink this wine on repeated occasions, as I find it has an unbeatable price for the quality. It's a more complete version of the 2016—it's pale, bright and transparent, spicy, elegant, nuanced, juicy but complex, with not only fruit but also violets and an herbal side, and it's characterful and a bit funky with finesse and a texture of chalk and granite. Like a Poulsard from Chambolle. High drinkability with aging potential.

From the mountainous wine region of Sierra de Gredos, this is grenache from one of the Spain’s great, avant garde wine producers. Organic farmed, various plots contribute to the wine. In the winery, natural fermentation, up to five months maceration for the grapes, no additions, unfiltered and unfined to bottle. Comando G has a strong rep for fine, lighter reds of complexity and amazing texture.
No disappointment here. So perfumed, all red cherry, anise, fennel, cranberry and rose petals, with the faintest whiff of smoky, warm rocks. The palate finds similar flavours, sheathed with herb-laced, stony, ultra fine tannins. Incredible persistence of flavour, tension and succulence are noteworthy comments. Such a beautiful, fine wine to drink. Utterly delicious and detailed.

Slate, blackberry and black-cherry aromas that follow through to a full body with density and tight, layered tannins. Some Spanish-cedar undertones. An opulent yet polished and silky mouth feel.
