Compania Vinicola del Norte de Espana Real De Asua, Rioja

Real de Asúa is CVNE’s most precise and exacting expression of Tempranillo, drawn from a single high-altitude vineyard in Villalba de Rioja, at the foothills of the Sierra Cantabria. The site is planted to old, bush-trained vines on limestone-rich soils, farmed parcel by parcel and harvested by hand. Production is deliberately limited, with each vintage shaped by the character of the growing season rather than house style.

Fermentation takes place in small vats, allowing close control of extraction. Ageing follows in fine-grained French oak barrels, selected to frame the wine rather than define it. The approach is modern but grounded in Rioja tradition, with clarity of fruit and structure the priority.

The nose typically shows red cherry, plum, and dried herbs, with subtle notes of cedar and spice. On the palate, the wine is composed and precise, offering ripe red fruit, savoury depth and firm, chalky tannins. Balanced acidity carries the finish, giving both immediate appeal and the confidence to cellar.
