Wine Spectator
A crisp blanc de blancs in an aperitif style, with a racy streak of acidity creating a mouthwatering frame for tangerine, glazed apricot, lemon thyme and minerally chalk and smoke notes as they ride the lacy mousse. Drink now. 24,800 cases made, 950 cases imported.

Didier Depond has been in charge of Delamotte and Salon for 24 years. He decided they should produce only four cuvées (Brut NV, Rosé NV, Blanc de Blancs NV and Blanc de Blancs vintage) – a distinguishing mark. All grand cru ingredients though this is not cited on the label. A third each Le Mesnil, Oger and Avize. No clues on the labels about the age of the blend. Aged 48 months minimum. Dosage about 6 g/l. Supposedly 'the champagne for the Champenois'. Based on 2015 plus 15% reserve wine. 'Clean' is a key word for Delamotte, we are told. No oak. Malo (unlike Salon).
Fresh green leaves on the nose. Really brisk. Tastes as though there's a little dosage here. Definitely not Extra Brut. Quite flirtatious. Not intense but well balanced. Dupond is proud of its not being particularly acidic.

Based in Le Mesnil-sur-Oger in the heart of the Côte des Blancs, this producer knows a thing or two about Chardonnay Champagnes. The proof is in this intense, mineral and citrus-driven wine. It has depth of flavor giving concentration as well as richness. Drink this bottling from 2019.
