Delatite Estate Riesling, Upper Goulburn

Delatite sits on the high-altitude slopes of the Victorian Alps, where the Ritchie family has farmed since the 1960s. This estate Riesling draws from vines grown in red volcanic soils at nearly 500 metres elevation. The cool climate of the Upper Goulburn region provides a long growing season, allowing the fruit to develop intensity while retaining natural acidity.

Winemaker David Ritchie employs a low-intervention approach in the cellar. The fruit is harvested in the cool of the night, then gently pressed and fermented in stainless-steel tanks. This process avoids oak contact to preserve the site's purity. Extended lees contact adds texture and weight to the finished wine, balancing its structural backbone.

The nose offers clear notes of lime zest and white flowers. On the palate, expect a crisp profile of lemon juice and green apple. A distinct flinty minerality carries through to a dry finish. This wine represents a reliable benchmark for Victorian Riesling, offering both immediate refreshment and the potential to develop further complexity in the cellar.
