DOMAINE ANTOINE JOBARD 1er Cru Epenottes, Beaune 2023 Bottle
About this wine
Domaine Antonie Jobard 1er Cru Epenottes, Beaune
Situated on the border of Pommard at the southern end of the slope, Les Epenottes benefits from deep clay soils over limestone. Antoine Jobard farms less than one hectare of 40-year-old vines here, crafting a rare red expression from a domaine renowned primarily for its benchmark whites.
Jobard uses roughly 30% whole bunches during fermentation, bringing aromatic lift and structural focus. Oak ageing remains restrained to preserve site character, and the wine rests on fine lees before bottling. This judicious winemaking delivers a Pinot Noir with balance, clarity, and genuine ageing potential.
The nose opens with red cherry, wild strawberry, and subtle dried herbs. On the palate, expect generous red fruit framed by fine, chalky tannins and underlying earthiness. It offers immediate appeal yet possesses the structure to evolve gracefully over a decade.
