DOMAINE BACHELET-MONNOT Bourgogne Cote-D'Or Blanc 2023 Bottle
About this wine
Domaine Bachelet-Monnot Bourgogne Cote-D'Or Blanc
Brothers Marc and Alexandre Bachelet have rapidly established this domaine as a benchmark for modern Burgundy. Based in Dezize-lès-Maranges, they manage 20 hectares of vines, focusing on sustainable viticulture and structural precision. This Bourgogne Côte-d’Or is sourced from parcels in Puligny-Montrachet and Meursault, offering a level of site-specificity and pedigree that punches well above its regional classification.
In the cellar, the approach is restrained. The fruit is pressed whole-cluster and fermented using indigenous yeasts. The wine matures for twelve months in 350-litre French oak barrels, larger than the standard barrique, to moderate the wood influence and preserve the fruit's energy. A further 6 months in stainless-steel vats before bottling ensures the wine retains its characteristic tension and focus.
The nose presents lemon curd, white flowers, and a distinct flinty reduction. On the palate, the wine is taut and energetic, defined by a chalky texture and bright acidity. It delivers a clean, saline finish, making it an excellent choice for those who value purity over opulence.
