About this wine
Domaine Bruno Clair, Bonnes-Mares
Domaine Bruno Clair holds a substantial 1.64-hectare holding within the Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru site, spanning both the Morey-Saint-Denis and Chambolle-Musigny sections. The domain relies on old vines, planted between 1946 and 1980 on limestone and clay marl soils. This vineyard site provides natural structural power while retaining the precision that collectors expect from the Côte de Nuits.
In the cellar, winemaking prioritises clarity of origin. Fermentation takes place in open wooden vats, using 30 to 50% whole bunches. The wine matures for 18 to 20 months in oak barrels, with roughly 45 per cent new oak. This approach preserves the fruit's natural structure without obscuring site detail.
Every vintage displays a core of dark cherry, blackberry, and liquorice, balanced by notes of violet and crushed rock. The palate delivers firm, fine-grained tannins and concentrated dark fruit, finishing with lingering spice and earthiness. This Grand Cru is built for decades of cellar growth.
