DOMAINE DE LA CHAPELLE, La Chapelle, Hermitage 2022 Bottle
About this wine
Domaine de le Chapelle, La Chapelle, Hermitage
La Chapelle is one of the most celebrated wines of the Rhône, drawn from the steep slopes of Hermitage. The vineyard takes its name from the small chapel of Saint Christophe, which overlooks these historic plots. For decades, the wine was crafted by Paul Jaboulet Aîné, establishing a reputation for longevity and collectability. In recent years, the Frey family, with winemaker Caroline Frey, has taken over, bringing renewed focus to the vineyard and cellar.
The wine is produced from Syrah grown on diverse parcels, including Bessards, Rocoules, and Méal, each contributing structure, perfume, and depth. Fermentation is traditional, with gentle extraction, before ageing in a mix of new and seasoned French oak barrels.
Expect aromas of dark berries, pepper, and violets, with savoury undertones. The palate offers layers of fruit, fine tannins, and a persistent finish, rewarding both immediate enjoyment and long-term cellaring.
