About this wine

Domaine Romanée-Conti Grands-Echezeaux

Before the revolution, this vineyard was known as Les Echézeaux du Bas, takings its current name in the early 19th Century. The vineyard is 9.14 ha on a gently undulating slope comprised of clay and the same Bajocian limestone wash shared with Musigny, arguably the greatest of all of Burgundy’s vineyards. DRC owns 3.53 ha. The geology imparts a greater density and richness to the fruit than its Echézeaux sibling, sometimes, too, with souk-like aromas of spice, somewhat synergistic with la Tache, present at the mid-way mark. This is often DRC’s sturdiest arrow in the quiver.
