About this wine

Domaine de Montille Grand Cru , Chevalier-Montrachet

Domaine de Montille holds a small parcel of Chevalier-Montrachet Grand Cru, situated on the highest, steepest section of the legendary Montrachet hill. This vineyard produces fruit of exceptional concentration. Under the direction of Étienne de Montille, the estate manages the vines using certified biodynamic farming principles to maintain soil health and clear site expression.

Winemaker Brian Sieve oversees a sensitive vinification process that respects the fruit. The juice ferments in a combination of traditional 228-litre and larger 600-litre French oak barrels, with new oak kept to a modest maximum of 25%. The wine ages on lees without stirring to preserve focus, before a final phase in stainless steel vats seals in freshness.

The nose regularly shows aromas of white peach, green apple, chamomile and crushed stone. On the palate, the wine delivers distinct mineral drive, balanced by a dense texture and precise acidity, ensuring substantial cellaring potential.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Domaine de Montille
Domaine de Montille is a top Côte de Beaune domaine renowned for producing some of the purest, most elegant and harmonious expressions of Pinot Noir to be found in Burgundy. Established in Volnay in 1951 by Hubert de Montille, the majority of production was sold in bulk to négociants for many years. Over time the domaine acquired additional parcels in Volnay and Pommard with more recent purchases in Corton, Beaune and Vosne Romanee. Today the domaine is run by Hubert’s son Etienne, who adheres to a traditional winemaking philosophy. Built to age, the wines take at least five years to begin showing their full potential.
