About this wine

Domaine de Montille holds 1.26 hectares in Les Grèves, widely regarded as the finest Premier Cru vineyard in Beaune. Situated in the heart of the hillside, this plot features gravel and limestone soils that consistently produce Pinot Noir of exceptional precision and mineral tension. The estate has managed these vines under strict organic and biodynamic principles for decades.

Winemaker Étienne de Montille employs traditional, low-intervention techniques to preserve the site's identity. The fruit undergoes partial whole-bunch fermentation, typically including about one-third of whole clusters, which adds structure and detail. Maturation takes place in French oak barrels for 14 to 18 months, with new oak restricted to a modest 20% to avoid masking the primary fruit.

Across every vintage, this wine delivers a clear nose of red berries, fresh raspberry and violet, alongside subtle earthy undertones. The palate is medium-bodied and fleshy, defined by firm, chalky tannins, vibrant acidity and a long, dry, stony finish.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Domaine de Montille
Domaine de Montille is a top Côte de Beaune domaine renowned for producing some of the purest, most elegant and harmonious expressions of Pinot Noir to be found in Burgundy. Established in Volnay in 1951 by Hubert de Montille, the majority of production was sold in bulk to négociants for many years. Over time the domaine acquired additional parcels in Volnay and Pommard with more recent purchases in Corton, Beaune and Vosne Romanee. Today the domaine is run by Hubert’s son Etienne, who adheres to a traditional winemaking philosophy. Built to age, the wines take at least five years to begin showing their full potential.
