Domaine des Lambrays Clos des Lambrays Grand cru, Morey-St-Denis

Clos des Lambrays is a historic walled vineyard in Morey-Saint-Denis, elevated to Grand Cru status in 1981, but with records of viticulture dating back to the 14th century. Domaine des Lambrays owns nearly the entire 8.66-hectare climat, giving it near-monopole status. Since LVMH’s acquisition in 2014, significant investments in vineyards and cellars have followed. Winemaker Jacques Devauges, previously of Clos de Tart, now oversees production, utilising whole-bunch fermentation and gentle extraction to preserve the site's expression. Maturation takes place in French oak, typically using barrels that are around 50% new. The wine offers a balance of structure and finesse, with red and dark fruit, dried herbs, spice and a mineral thread. Vintage conditions shape the weight and power, but the wine consistently shows clarity, length and ageing potential. It stands as one of the most recognised Grand Crus of the Côte de Nuits and is highly sought after by collectors and Burgundy drinkers alike.
