About this wine

Domaine Faiveley's Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers comes from one of the village's most distinguished vineyards, neighbouring Clos Saint-Jacques on the mid-slope. The limestone and marl soils here give wines of clarity and drive, hallmarks of Faiveley's precise and consistent style.

Under the direction of Erwan Faiveley and technical director Jérôme Flous, the fruit is hand-harvested and fermented in open wooden vats, with a proportion of whole bunches. The wine then matures for around 14 to 16 months in oak barrels, about one-third new, in the family's cellars in Nuits-Saint-Georges.

The result is a wine of depth and balance, showing aromas of red and black cherry, earth and spice. The palate is focused and long, with fine tannins and a structure built for ageing. Les Cazetiers captures the character of Gevrey and the discipline that defines Faiveley.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Domaine Faiveley
Domaine Faiveley is a family wine producer and négociant in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Established by Pierre Faiveley in 1825, initially as a wine merchant, today Faiveley produces their own wines and is also négociants buying wine and fruit from other producers and growers. The domaine is run by 7th generation Erwan Faiveley and the estate now owns 120 ha of vineyards throughout Burgundy. They have 10 ha of Grand Cru vineyard parcels including Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Clos de Vougeot, and Echezeaux among others. Many parcels are less than 1 ha yielding only tiny quantities of wines. Domaine Faiveley also has 25 ha of Premier Cru vineyards spread through the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise.
