About this wine

Domaine Faiveley Grand Cru, Mazis-Chambertin

Domaine Faiveley holds one of the most extensive Grand Cru portfolios in Burgundy, and Mazis-Chambertin is among its crown jewels. The vineyard lies on the northern slope of Gevrey-Chambertin, where thin, stony soils and excellent drainage yield wines of drive and structure. Faiveley owns a prized holding here, managed with organic principles and minimal intervention. Fermentation takes place in wooden vats with a high proportion of whole bunches, followed by ageing in French oak barrels, with around two-thirds of the barrels new.

Each vintage captures the tension and energy that define this terroir. Aromas of dark cherry, blackcurrant and forest floor lead to a palate of precision and length, where firm tannins frame layers of fruit and savoury complexity. Built to mature gracefully, Mazis-Chambertin from Faiveley stands as a benchmark of both the vineyard and the domaine's meticulous approach.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Domaine Faiveley
Domaine Faiveley is a family wine producer and négociant in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Established by Pierre Faiveley in 1825, initially as a wine merchant, today Faiveley produces their own wines and is also négociants buying wine and fruit from other producers and growers. The domaine is run by 7th generation Erwan Faiveley and the estate now owns 120 ha of vineyards throughout Burgundy. They have 10 ha of Grand Cru vineyard parcels including Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Clos de Vougeot, and Echezeaux among others. Many parcels are less than 1 ha yielding only tiny quantities of wines. Domaine Faiveley also has 25 ha of Premier Cru vineyards spread through the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise.
