About this wine

Domaine Faiveley La Combe d'Orveau 1er Cru, Chambolle-Musigny

Domaine Faiveley’s La Combe d’Orveau lies at the border of Chambolle-Musigny and the Grand Cru of Musigny, a privileged site known for its poise and depth. The vineyard’s sheltered position produces fruit of fine fragrance and balance. Under the direction of Erwan Faiveley, with winemaker Jérôme Flous, the wine is made with gentle extraction and careful use of French oak, about one-third new each year. The aim is to capture the vineyard’s natural energy and texture without excess weight. Each vintage shows bright cherry, raspberry and floral notes, with a thread of spice and minerality through the palate. The tannins are finely woven, supporting a long, composed finish. La Combe d’Orveau reflects the modern Faiveley style, where precision and restraint highlight the detail of a truly exceptional Premier Cru site that sits comfortably among the finest of Chambolle-Musigny.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Domaine Faiveley
Domaine Faiveley is a family wine producer and négociant in Nuits-Saint-Georges. Established by Pierre Faiveley in 1825, initially as a wine merchant, today Faiveley produces their own wines and is also négociants buying wine and fruit from other producers and growers. The domaine is run by 7th generation Erwan Faiveley and the estate now owns 120 ha of vineyards throughout Burgundy. They have 10 ha of Grand Cru vineyard parcels including Chambertin-Clos de Bèze, Clos de Vougeot, and Echezeaux among others. Many parcels are less than 1 ha yielding only tiny quantities of wines. Domaine Faiveley also has 25 ha of Premier Cru vineyards spread through the Côte de Nuits, Côte de Beaune and Côte Chalonnaise.
