Domaine Henri Germain, Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Les Fairendes

Domaine Henri Germain is a quiet force in Burgundy, producing wines of precision and substance. Based in Meursault, the domaine also owns a parcel in the prized Morgeot climat of Chassagne-Montrachet, specifically the Les Fairendes section, considered by many to be its finest sector. This Premier Cru site is situated on limestone-rich soils with excellent drainage, producing wines of structure and depth.

The wines are made with minimal intervention. Fermentation is a natural process, followed by élevage in mostly older oak barrels for approximately 18 months. The approach is about clarity, not embellishment.

Each vintage of Les Fairendes exhibits a clear line of citrus, stone fruit, and mealy reduction on the nose, with a palate that layers fresh-cut lemon, wet stone, and a light nutty grip. It is typically firm and composed in youth, but it opens with time, rewarding those who wait. A wine for the cellar, not the showroom.
