Clos du Roy is located in Chenôve at an elevation of 270 meters. The vineyard lies on a moderate slope with a southeastern orientation. The upper part of Clos du Roy features a large deposit of light, gravelly, and calcium-rich grèze litée, which consists of bedrock shattered into small angular chips by freeze-thaw cycles. This deposit overlays a bedrock of limestone at the top of the slope and transitions to red sandy marl towards the bottom. With an estimated average vine age of 40 years, this is a renowned site capable of producing wonderfully hedonistic wines.
