DOMAINE LA BARROCHE Julien Barrot, Chateauneuf-du-Pape
Domaine La Barroche’s Julien Barrot comes from a patchwork of estate parcels, including old Grenache on the La Crau plateau, farmed to organic principles and handled in a gravity-flow cellar to preserve purity. The blend is led by Grenache with Mourvèdre, Syrah, Counoise, Cinsault and a touch of Clairette Rose, fermented with a good proportion of whole bunches and aged around 18–20 months in large foudres, concrete and older barrels, giving a full-bodied yet poised Châteauneuf with black cherry, raspberry liqueur, garrigue, liquorice and chalky spice over fine, polished tannins.
