About this wine

DOMAINE SYLVIE ESMONIN Cuvee Vieilles Vignes, Gevrey-Chambertin

Domaine Sylvie Esmonin is a seven-hectare estate located in Gevrey-Chambertin. Led by Sylvie Esmonin, a qualified oenologist in the Côte d'Or, the domaine produces Pinot Noir of noted pedigree. The Cuvée Vieilles Vignes is sourced from vines over 75 years old, incorporating plots within the Premier Cru Clos Prieur. The winemaking process is traditional, utilising up to 60 percent whole-cluster fermentation to build structure and complexity. The wine is then aged in a high proportion of new French oak barrels. This approach yields a structured wine offering quality, value and prestige for Australian collectors.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Domaine Sylvie Esmonin
Domaine Sylvie Esmonin is a small wine producer in Gevrey-Chambertin. The original domaine was owned by Silvie’s father Michel and the vast majority of the wines sold in bulk. In 1990 Sylvie returned to the family domaine to help make the wines with the understanding that the wines would be bottled at the domaine. The estate has 5 ha of vineyards in Gevrey-Chambertin with a sizeable parcel in the Premier Cru Clos St-Jacques. Viticulture is practiced along organic lines and vinification is relatively rapid with maturation in a high percentage of new oak. Over the years the domaine’s highly stylish elegant wines have attracted a significant international following.
