Domenica Shiraz Beechworth

Domenica is the work of winemaker Peter Graham, who honed his skills at Giaconda before establishing his own estate in Beechworth. The vineyards sit at altitude on decomposed granite soils, providing a distinctive foundation for Shiraz. Graham’s approach is hands-on, with whole-bunch fermentation playing a key role in building texture and complexity. Maturation takes place in a mix of new and seasoned French oak, carefully chosen to frame the wine rather than dominate it.

Each vintage of Domenica Shiraz shows layers of dark fruit, often blackberry and plum, with lifted spice and a subtle savoury note. The palate is typically fine and structured, with an interplay of fruit, earth and gentle oak influence that evolves beautifully over time. This is a Shiraz that captures both the character of Beechworth and the precision of modern Australian winemaking, built for drinking now or cellaring for further depth.

ABOUT THE WINERY
Domenica
Domenica is the exciting project of Peter Graham, long-time assistant winemaker to Rick Kinzbrunner at Giaconda. The Beechworth vineyard, planted in 1995 and 1998, is adjacent to Giaconda’s Warner Vineyard at 550 metres above sea-level. Graham bought out Kinzbrunner and Michel Chapoutier to achieve full ownership. Domenica’s first release, in 2013, was a Roussanne-Marsanne blend, followed by a Chardonnay, a Shiraz and a Nebbiolo. Domenica is a label to watch.
