GIUSEPPE MASCARELLO E FIGLIO Villero , Barolo 2020 Bottle
About this wine
Giuseppe Mascarello e Figlio Villero Barolo
The Mascarello family has cultivated Nebbiolo in the Villero vineyard since the late 1980s. This site in Castiglione Falletto is famous for its south-western exposure and complex soil profile of clay, limestone and grey marl. The vineyard yields fruit that balances the muscularity of Serralunga with the elegance of La Morra. It remains a cornerstone of the estate, reflecting a commitment to traditional viticulture and site-specificity.
Mauro Mascarello employs classic winemaking techniques to preserve fruit integrity. The grapes undergo fermentation in traditional Slavonian oak vats for up to thirty days. Following this, the wine matures for three years in large, neutral Slavonian oak casks. This slow process allows the tannins to integrate naturally. The wine is bottled without filtration to maintain its structural density.
The nose provides scents of dried rose, tar and spice. On the palate, the wine is powerful, featuring flavours of dark cherry and plum. Firm tannins lead to a long finish.
