There’s excellent intensity here. There’s a slip of fruit sweetness but it’s gentle and slight, the clearer message one of crisp green apples, lime, minerals and tonic-like herbs. I get the feeling that Alea has changed tack slightly, become drier, more mineral, less grapey. I’m a fan. This is very good.

Reserved yeasty aromas and fuller/riper lemongrass fruit, the palate bears this out, with generous, ample flavour that spreads across the palate in a more open-knit style. The trace of sweetness is barely evident, just softens and fills out the finish and aftertaste.

A dainty riesling, tiptoeing across a crunchy beam of Granny Smith apple, jasmine, Thai herb and lime splice. Peppery, sulfidic-minerally and balletic, but ultimately pretty easygoing in a dryish Kabinett sort of mold. This is mellifluous drinking as intended. Of prodigious versatility at the table. From biodynamically grown grapes. Drink or hold. Screw cap.
