Idée Fixe Brut Rosé, Margaret River

Idée Fixe is the dedicated sparkling house of Vasse Felix, focusing entirely on Chardonnay from a single, cool-climate vineyard in southern Margaret River. The Karridale sub-region is selected for its southern ocean influence and deep Karridale soils, which preserve the natural acidity required for world-class Méthode Traditionnelle. This Brut Rosé gains its pale salmon hue and structural breadth from a small addition of still Pinot Noir.

In the cellar, the wine undergoes primary fermentation in stainless steel and neutral French oak to build base complexity. It then rests on lees for 24 months, allowing for a fine bead and the development of savoury autolytic notes. Winemaker Mick Langridge keeps the dosage low to ensure the fruit remains the focal point, resulting in a wine of notable clarity and drive.

The nose delivers aromas of wild strawberry, pink grapefruit, and toasted brioche. On the palate, the wine is bone-dry and crisp, showing layers of red apple and citrus with a persistent, creamy mousse. It offers the prestige of a grower Champagne profile with the distinct sun-kissed fruit of Western Australia.
