J.L. Chave, Hermitage Blanc
Domaine Jean-Louis Chave draws on over five centuries of family lineage on the Hermitage hill. The Hermitage Blanc is predominantly old-vine Marsanne with a small portion of Roussanne, sourced from prized clay, limestone, and granite lieux-dits such as Rocoules and Péléat.
Winemaker Jean-Louis Chave vinifies and ages each vineyard parcel individually in a mix of wooden casks, old oak barrels, and stainless steel tanks. The final blend rests together before bottling, preserving the distinct terroir of each plot.
The wine opens with aromas of honeysuckle, white peach, roasted nuts, and beeswax. On the palate, expect a rich, broad, and glycerol-dense structure supported by a savoury, stony grip that allows it to age and evolve for decades.
